Our latest rescue and adoption,”Pumpkin”

  • Thanksgiving evening was a special night for me (Carolyn Haines) and GFFR. I went non-traditional this year and had vegetarian pizza for lunch, and then went down the road to visit my friend Shelley. It was a foggy, misty night, and I noticed a big dog and a little puppy playing in the middle of the road. It’s a quiet residential area, and I could catch either dog. I had a visit with Shelley and Ken. When I started for home, the two dogs were still there. Shelley helped catch the puppy, but the big dog wouldn’t come close. I ended up with the puppy,  who is totally adorable! I knew I could find her a terrific home, and while I love her, it is in her best interest to be with a younger person and one who doesn’t have 28 older, sick animals to care for. Photos were posted on FB and Jody Holm offered to drive from KY to get this puppy. They had an instant bond when she saw the photos. We were lucky enough to find someone heading in Jody’s direction (thank you Becky Stowe) who agreed to take Pumpkin most of the way. This precious baby leaves for her knew home Dec. 9. My heart will break even knowing this is the best thing possible for the puppy. Jody is the perfect mama for her.GFFR has the most extraordinary friends!

We have found a ride for Pumpkin all the way to KY!

He’ll miss his new friends at GFFR but now he has a forever home.
